I took some quick snaps of my work outfit this morning at the top of hotel parking garage I was staying at. It’s the perfect spot for setting up your tripod without getting any funny looks!
This skirt was a great buy at Zara, only $19.90, and it comes in 3 different colors. I have been looking for a camel midi skirt and can’t wait to style it differently for work and weekend wear. Hope you all have a great weekend! xx

Last Thursday, my good friend, Hannah, and I did a ‘Brushes and Bites’ workshop at Paint:Lab in Santa Monica. I had purchased some vouchers on Travel Zoo as a Christmas present – there are still some available here!
We’re both not that artistic (sorry, Hannah!), but we had so much fun on our moms date night, sipping on wine and catching up on life. There were some pretty talented people in our group, but looking back at the photo of our paintings, I think we did pretty well! I would definitely recommend getting together with a friend and doing a little paint and sip night.
Happy Hump Day!

Last month, I took a quick work trip up to beautiful Napa Valley (well, technically Vallejo). I was able to sneak out of the office a little bit early to drive around the valley and have a glass of champagne at Domaine Carneros. It was beautiful as always up here, despite the grape vines being dormant, with little mustard flowers growing between the vines.
I went during one of the days were it rained all week in California, so I knew taking this trench with me was a necessity. I was specifically looking for a black trench coat because I knew I would have to travel to some rainy places at some point, and this one by London Fog fit the bill. I am usually a small, but in jacket the xs fit better – and it has a detachable lining for extra warmth.
(PS, I was using a tripod and remote to take these photos… you can see the remote in my hand in a few of the shots 😉 )
Have a great day!

On Saturday, we spent the day at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach. If you live in southern CA (and have a young child), I would highly recommend buying a membership! Riley really enjoys seeing the fish and birds and playing in the little water splash area outside. One of my favorite exhibits is the Lorikeet Forest, where you can purchase nectar to feed the birds while you walk through.

Last month, I purchased some rain gear in anticipation of El Niño, but have been quite disappointed in the lack the storms’ appearance – we desperately need rain in California! I was so happy to get some use out of my rain gear on Sunday morning. These were taken before the husband and I left to have a (rare) day date, since my MIL was over to watch Riley. We had yummy tofu soup and finally watched Star Wars.

Hello! I’m Jonilyn. A lover of fashion, photography and sweets. Welcome to Sweet Giraffe, my creative outlet to my full-time Corporate Health Care job.
I live in sunny Southern California with my husband, baby girl and pup ☺ These photos were taken last weekend, when we spent a somewhat chilly day at our favorite dog beach in Santa Barbara. We love coming up here as a day trip, to get out of the hustle and bustle of city life, even if it was a little cold!
I purchased this sweater from Anthropologie several years ago and I bring it out every (so-cal) winter – it’s comfy, warm and so easy to style. I love paring oversized sweaters over black skinnies for an easy weekend outfit. These black leggings from Zara are my current favorite!
I’ve probably started and stopped this blog about 100 times! But I have a good feeling about this time ☺ So, thanks so much for stopping by and hope you will follow me on my life + style journey.
Have a great weekend!
